white knuckles

Last night Denver finally got the snow from the storms that the rest of the country isxperiencing. Should be no big deal, right? I mean, when you think of Denver in winter the first thought you come to is snow.

Well, this morning the roads were ridiculous!

For some reason, that I will never understand, Colorado has still not learned how to keep the roads plowed.

And the scariest thing you can see on your drive in to work happened to me. I was smack behind someone driving a Jeep with an Arizona license plate.

Yikes!

(I'm not knocking AZ drivers here, but there aren't a whole lot of chances to learn to drive on ice in that state, right? Plus SOME people who drive big cars like that tend to feel a little invincible to poor road conditions.)

  1. Truthfully, Arizona drivers do suck. They can't handle anything but sun. And I can say that because I lived there for five years.

However, AZ plates don't necessarily indicate an AZ driver. I have them, in Utah, and I'm a CA driver (we are the best drivers, in case anyone was wondering). Ha ha ha! (I'm kidding, but only like 10%).

Depends on where in Arizona they learned to drive - Flagstaf drivers get quite good in the snow.
Some of worst "Arizona drivers" are snowbirds from elsewhere, at least in Arizona.

  3. I feel the same way here, about Washington drivers. Too bad they are all over!!

  4. Hee hee. Here in Oregon we make fun of the California drivers. Plus, they change lanes like lunatics.

The truth is even Oregonians act like retards while driving in the rain. I don't know why. It rains 6 months out of the year. You'd THINK people would get used to it.

  5. I don't know what's going on with Utah either. They never plow the roads here! I think they're taking a vacation from plowing this year to see if it really makes a difference.
I'm from AZ, and I'd say I'm pretty good at driving in the snow. It has taken practice though. If the jeep AZ-er has been on any oil slicks from flash floods they should be pretty well prepared, but I can't speak for the whole of AZ. I'm a good driver (especially compared to all these Utahns), that's all I know.
