Anyone know a cobbler?

Here's another question for you. How long do you expect a pair of nice heels to last?

I bought these cute expensive heels from Nordstrom in February and now they're totally trashed. The little rubber nub on one heel is totally gone so it clicks with the sound of metal on concrete whenever I walk. There are sparks when I run.

And the finish has totally rubbed off the cute buttons that secure the maryjane strap.

Now I know that, because Nordstrom is awesome, I can take them back and probably get a brand new pair for free. But do you think I'm expecting too much from a shoe? Should they really only last 6 months with a maximum of twice a week wear? Should I just suck it up, send them to the cute shoe graveyard and buy a new pair?

Seems like they ought to last longer.

But I am nortorious for wearing out the little plastic heel pad. A shoe repair shop will replace them for $15 to $19.

The button part concerns me - I'd take them back to Nordstroms for that.

i have a pair of cheap boots that i bought two years ago, and wear almost every day in the winter, and they're totally worn out. but like i said, they were cheap and i wore them 5 times a week in the winter months.

i would expect these to last much longer.

My Steve Madden boots come with replacement heel pads because that bit of wear is expected and easily replaced but the bit on the button, that part is a bit dodgier and unexpected. Do your feet rub together when you walk?

I'd take them to a Shoe Hospital and ask the cobbler their opinion as to whether or not that part can be repaired or if they should be returned.

Noooo! Never retire cute shoes until you HAVE to - they're so hard to find!

Most drycleaners have a shoe repair too, and its definately worth the $10-$15 investment to get good cute shoes re-heeled!

Love your blog!

Def. find a shoe repair guy. I have two pairs of heels from my grandmothers, both of which are over 60 years old and in awesome shape. I wear one of them almost weekly to church. My cute little shoe repair guy only charged me $9 to put new nubs on the pair I most recently aquired. So worth it.

I'm cheap, but I think you should bring them back. I'm sure you paid a decent amount of money for them and they ought to last longer than six months... unless my 5 year old is wearing them- then they last 2 months max.

Hahahah!!! Sparks!!! Ok, yeah you should get those taken care of pronto. I wouldn't expect wear like that from the likes of a pair from Nordies!

you should take them back. Nordstrom stands behind their products. Ask the ear doctor about the shirts we returned while he was on his mission---they never questioned they just refunded. mc

The heel caps are not a surprise and they should be easy to do if you haven't worn into the leather wrap on the heels... but the buttons???? Take em back.

Heaven's no!!! Return them and get the better bang for your buck. They should last until the end of the Millennium.

I definitely expect my shoes to last longer than that. It's a shame, because yours are so cute!
