Interesting Read

This morning Nemesis linked to a really interesting article. I read the whole thing and thought it was well put together. Also, I've heard other theories like this, but in this article the author is sussinct and clear about his point.

Kay Hymowitz: The child-man

In case you are too busy to click over there (believe me, I understand. I hardly ever click over to read people's links), the gist is that single white males these days are allowed to dwell in an immature, adolescent limbo between being a teenager and becoming an adult.

Many of my friends and I question our parenting skills and that of our peers when we are able to raise a generation of Peter Pans.

It is a phenomenon worth writing about and exploring.

Yes...almost as disturbing as "Transgendered man 5 months pregnant, he says"

How wide spread is this? BYU has turned its newest married student housing complex into single student shared apartments - not enough married students to fill the units. But it isn't just the males - when Dan was dating, several girls told him to call them when he had finished residency; they weren't interested in dating him if was really planning to go to med school but would be happy to consider dating him as a doctor.

I'd have to agree with dan's mom on this. This is defintely a problem with males these days, but the article unjustly gives females a free pass. I've long been disturbed and offended by the increasing prevalence of video games, crap magazines, etc. that pervade our male culture. However, I'm also very offended when the female culture turns education and a job outside the home as the only worthy occupation and sees no value in raising children. Maybe devaluing the raising of good, responsible children who understand consequences and hard work is the root behind this shame. In fact, I'm sure of it.
